Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I sighed, shaking my head.
"Sorry, that was my fault; if they had just seen you they may have backed down, but than they saw me..." I said, looking at my scrawny body. Jenna suddenly leapt forward and nuzzled me, and I blinked in surprise.
"There's nothing wrong with being half-dog," she whispered.
"I know, it's just..." I said back, than Balto was in front of me, his yellow eyes soft.
"Look at me; I'm half-dog. Does that make me weak?" he asked. I opened my mouth in shock. How could he say such a thing?
"No! No, of course not! You're Balto, for moon's sake!" I barked. Balto chuckled.
"Saving a town doesn't make me special. I feel special 'cause I have friends who care about me," he said, glancing back at Muk and Luk and Boris, who had appeared over the boat's side. Suddenly I was bowled over by a large bundle of white fur, and picked up by it, getting licks on the cheek, and hearing mumbling. I was guessing it was Luk. I noticed little Muk in front of me.
"He says, you're like a mini-Balto, not knowing who you are!" he said enthustiastically as I got another lick from Luk. I coughed and jumped out of Luk's arms. Balto was smiling at me. I smiled back.
"Thanks," I simply said, shifting my paws shyly. Jenna smiled and looked to Shadow.
"I don't know, but they said they'll be back. So I suggest you and Moonstar stay here with Balto, Muk and Luk, and Boris, and I'll come if something shows up," she said, and leaned forward the nuzzle Shadow than me. She nuzzled longer with Balto, looking into his eyes and smiling, and I felt like I was intruding so I looked away. When I looked back up, Jenna was gone.
Suddenly Boris was here, patting Shadow's head.
"Ah, big Shadow, it's so good to see you again!" he cooed, and I couldn't help giggling. Boris looked at me, then walked over and patted my large paw. "And it's nice to meet you, miss Moonstar. My name is Boris," he introduced himself, bowing. I smiled and bowed my head in return, too shy to speak. But suddenly Boris was scooped up by Luk and cuddled away. I laughed and turned to Shadow, not knowing what to do next.

I smiled warmly, glad to see how Moonstar was being accepted by my family; "Well, it looks like you're part of the family now!" I said happily, wagging my tail, hoping Moonstar would share my enthusiasm.

I grinned and wagged my tail.
"You have a nice family, Shadow," I said. Balto turned to us.
"It's getting dark. Come inside, you two," he said, and trotted back up the plank. I smiled at Shadow and followed Balto up into the boat house. He showed me the small spot on the deck, and I walked inside it and lay down, yawning.

I followed Moonstar inside, shutting the door once everyone was in, to keep out any wind that may pick up overnight. I laid down a few feet from Moonstar, curling my tail around my body to keep slightly warmer; "If you get cold, let me know," I said kindly, twitching my tail to indicate what I meant.

I chuckled.
"Sure thing, Shadow. Good night," I said, and closed my drifting eyes. Hopefully tomorrow the day would be brighter.

I smiled at Moonstar and closed my eyes as well, falling asleep within minutes.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
The snarling pack leader raced after me, his yellow eyes filled with hatred and saliva dripping from his fangs. He snapped his jaws only inches away from my legs. But I couldn't run anymore. My legs were screaming with acheness, and my heart was pounding faster then I could count. I collapsed in a panting heap. The pack leader stood over me, grinning in triumph.
"Sorry, mutt," he growled and lunged toward me.
I woke up with a yelp, breathing hard. Shadow was still asleep beside me. I sighed and walked out onto the boat's deck, and placed my paws on the side, looking out over the snow. I layed my head over the side. Maybe I should leave. I was putting Shadow and his family in danger. I should just leave like the coward I was. I sighed again, debating this.

I woke up a moment after I heard a yelp next to me; it took me a few moments to fully wake up before I saw Moonstar looking out from the side of the boat. I padded over next to her and laid my paws across the wooden side of the boat like she was doing; "Hey, what's the matter?" I asked, noticing that she had a sad look on her face.

I looked up to see Shadow beside me, his innocent amber eyes glowing. She smiled a little.
"Nothing, uh... Just thinking about getting some dinner," she said, not showing her real thoughts.
"That won't be necessary," a voice said. Moonstar looked behind her to see Balto holding a rabbit. "Thought you might be hungry," he explained, and laid the rabbit down. Moonstar smiled. Balto was... good father figure.
"Thanks," she said, and trotted over to the rabbit, beginning to chew. After a few bites, she looked up. "Done," she said innocently; she truthfully wasn't hungry.

I looked over at Moonstar; I could tell that there was something wrong with her that she hadn't said out loud yet. "Did you have a dream about those wolves or something?" I asked her sincerely.

My nostrils flared as I looked up. How did he know?
"N-no. What would make you think so?" I asked, but I knew my eyes we betraying me.

I lowered my ears a little in response to Moonstar; "Well, you were whining a little in your sleep; I just thought it may have been because of those wolves that showed up yesterday," I said honestly.
