The first hunt

Starfrost had been stuck with the pack's "protection" long enough. Tired of them always beeing around, she slipped away, wanting to get a first hunt and kill by herself. The falls had always been a great place. And now, with a few dozen elk calmly drinking, perhaps she could get one.
Starfrost lowered herself, the long grass hiding her. Suddenly, she heard movement and froze, her ears turning to try and hear what it was.

Moonstar stepped out of the long grass, her long light brown legs brushing it softly. She froze and crouched down when she noticed the other wolf.
"Sorry," she whispered. "Hope I didn't scare the prey away."

Though Starfrost had been listening for anything that made noise, she still jumped a little when a black and brown wolf whispered to her. "That's alright," she whispered back. "Were you going to get one too?" she asked, loking back and judging the size of a few of the elk.

Moonstar nodded.
"Yes, one of the smaller ones, anyway," she said and grinned. "Mind if I join you?" she asked, crouching lower to hide her from the elks' view.

"Sure," Starfrost smiled. She had been a little nervous if the elk decided to fight back rather than flee, but with two of them, maybe they could bring down something a little bigger.
"Perhaps we could both go for that old one," she suggesting, nodding her towards an large, older elk. "Saves us from bringing down two," she added.

Moonstar smiled and nodded, her legs muscles already twitching to run.
"On three? One... Two... Three!" Moonstar howled, leaping from the bushes. She rushed to the older elk. The rest of the herd began galloping away, but the old elk stumbled. Snarling, Moonstar jumped onto the elk's back, sinking her teeth into the back of its neck. While it bellowed angrily and tried bucking her off, Moonstar held on, hoping Starfrost would finish him off.
"On three? One... Two... Three!" Moonstar howled, leaping from the bushes. She rushed to the older elk. The rest of the herd began galloping away, but the old elk stumbled. Starfrost burst out of the bushes, rounding up the old elk, and pushing the others further away. Then she ran back to the old elk with the other wolf on its back. She bit it legs so it would stumble to the ground. Starfrost bit the elk's throat, and slowly, dying from suffocation, it stopped moving.
Starfrost moved away, panting a little. She looked at the other wolf. "You alright?" she asked. She grinned. "We make a good pack," she giggled.

Shadow was watching the two wolves from his hiding spot up in a tree nearby; they did a fantastic job on bringing that elk down. In his interest to watch, he had shifted his position, causing his long tail to drape down out of the branches, where it was easily visible against the forest landscape.

Moonstar silently thanked the old elk for giving them his life so they could live. She grinned at Starfrost and jumped off the elk's back when it died.
"Yeah, nice job. I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Moonstar," she said, wagging her black bushy tail. She then noticed a flash of red off to the side. She quickly looked at it. It was... a tail! She tilted her head, frowning, looking at Starfrost, nodding towards the tail. "Whadda make of that?" she asked her.

Starfrost smiled at Moonstar and introduced herself. "My name's Starfrost. Nice to meet you." She looked around when Moonstar nodded towards something. She had been looking on the ground level, but the red among the green wasn't too hard to miss.
"What's a red tail doing up in the trees?" she wondered aloud. She was tilting her head too. "Red panda maybe? But I've never seen one with that long a tail!"
Starfrost moved away a little to try and see what the creature was. She didn't move far from the dead elk, just along side it. Unable to see the rest of the creature, she shrugged at Moonstar.

Shadow heard voices from closer now; he twitched his tail back and forth curiously, unaware that it was right in front of the two wolves. It swayed back and forth like a pendulum.

Moonstar shook herself, unsure, and trotted over to the tail. Watching it swing continuously, her grey eyes followed it. She reached out a paw, and... smacked it so it swung harder. Her tail wagged.
"Heh, that was fun!" she said randomly, her tongue hanging out. She looked up into the tree and finally saw the owner of the tail. "Hey, you! What are you doing up in a tree?" she yelled up to the red-grey wolf.

Shadow looked down when he felt his tail being batted at, now aware that he had been noticed. "Umm, I've just been hanging out up here, watching what goes on," he said.

Cinderstar popped out of the bush and was looking for Shadow, til se finally saw him in the tree. "Hey, get down from there!" but she mindlessly starting climbing up herself; she was a good climber.

Starfrost finally left the side of the elk, curiously walking up to the tree when Moonstar discovered the owner of the tail. To her surprise, yet another wolf came into view, starting to climb up to the red and grey wolf in the tree.
"That looks fun," Starfrost said. "Is there a good view?" she called up the tree.

Moonstar smiled now at the two wolves up in the tree. She smiled nervously at Starfrost.
"Fun? If you wanna try it, be my guest. I'm sticking to the ground," she said and smiled playfully.

Starfrost smiled and shook her head. Her stomach growled softly and she giggled nervously. "Nah, I might have some lunch first." She walked back to the dead elk and began eating.
After a few mouthfuls, she looked up the tree and asked, "Are you two hungry?"

"Alright then," Moonstar said, and sat down by Starfrost, beginning to eat the elk. After a few gulpfuls, she sighed and rolled onto her back, patting her stomach with her paws.
"Woof, I'm stuffed," she said to Starfrost. "You can have the rest." She looked back up the tree at the two wolves. "You sure you guys aren't hungry? There's plenty."
