Shade's smile melted away. Her eyes bored into Shadow's and a seriousness came over her that was most uncommon. "Shadow, do you realize what he is?" She took a shaky breath, "What I am?"

Shadow looked at her innocently; "All I could see was that he acted like a monster; you're not like that, and that's all that I'm concerned with, regardless of what species you are."

Shade's face was unreadable. "I'm serious, Shadow. He's not normal! Romulus doesnt die. He's older than my grandfather! He's centuries old. He's a Wraith. A demon, one of many. His arrival here was not just a coincidence."

Shadow was beginning to get uncomfortable talking about Romulus again; "I know it was not a coincidence; he said that he was after you, and I'll stay by your side through this. We love each other, Shade, and as a potential mate, I'm willing to risk myself for your safety. Besides, Romulus thinks you're dead anyway." He nuzzled her affectionately again.

Shade sighed, pushing Romulus to the back of her mind. He'll be back. The Voice whispered. Shade glanced at the ground, then closed her eyes. I know.

"Well, now, what have we here?" A strange voice came from the surrounding trees.

Shadow looked around, putting his tail in front of Shade to protect her if the need arose.

Shade's ears were flat against her head, her teeth bared. "Who's there?" She snarled. "Woah! Steady on, old chap! You would'nt hurt a friend would you?" Shade's ears went erect again, her face curious. "I know that voice...." Suddenly, her face lit up, and she looked at Shadow. "It's Capitan!"

Shadow was dumbstruck; "Captain WHO?" he exclaimed, his ears slightly lower and his jaw gaping.

bic: Shade's eyes shone as she looked around, muttering absentmindedly, "Capitan. He's from the mountains, where I'm from." She turned to look at Shadow, then tackled him, laughing, "My Tribe sent Capitan to find me! Now I can go home!"

Shadow struggled to keep his smile; it was hard after hearing those last five words. "Would... would I be able to go with you?" he asked softly, his eyes glowing like those of a pup.

bic: Shade looked at Shadow, her eyes surprised. She hadnt thought of that. "I dont know...it's a family thing." Shade looked at her paws, then around the clearing. "Cappy! Get out here!" At Shade's bark, the bushes rustled and a large hare emerged, his ears erect and his monocle held tight under his eye. "'Ello, there, my good man," the hare said to Shadow with a british accent, "Capitan Stag Hare at y' service, sah." Capitan bowed deeply at Shade. "And you, m'ladeh Namine." Shade looked at Shadow awkwardly.

bic: Shadow hoped that Shade would be able to hear what he was thinking; would the Voice work again for him? Shade, please ask him if I can live with you and your family; after what you've done, I don't know what I'd do without you...

Shade heard Shadow's voice in her head. Her mouth hung slightly open, and she gazed at Shadow intently. She smiled fondly and turned to Cappy. "Why are you here, Cappy?" Capitan clapped his paws, and said, "Why, to bring you back home, m'dear. Your father is requesting your return, doncha know!" She thought on this for a moment, then said, "I'll go," Shade nodded in Shadow's direction, "But only if Shadow goes with us." Capitan chuckled, and whistled. Almost instantly, a golden she wolf erupted from the bushes and bowled Shade over. "Namine!" THe she wolf stood in front of Shade, and she laughed. She had a cute laugh. The golden one had orangey yellow ears and paws, and was very beautiful. She was built almost exactly like Shade, save for her tribal tatoo on her face. Hers consisted of four little diamonds skirting her left eye. Shade gasped, "Rikku!" Rikku, the golden wolf,

Shadow almost felt the urge to squint when Rikku appeared; she was an even brighter gold than his eyes, although her fur luckily did not seem to reflect the sun. He stood shakily, and was about to go over to meet her when he felt the hare tugging on his tail with a paw.

"Quite the tail y' got 'ere, laddie. Hm, me ol' mum used t' know a wolf, alot like yeh, though not quite as big." Shade and Rikku both looked irritated. Rikku's voice was like a bird's song on the wind. "Oi! Shut up, Cappy! We dont care about y' mum!" She said doing a comical imitation of the hare.

Shadow chuckled at her imitation of the hare; he walked over to Shade and Rikku, the hare hopping along behind him, still examining his tail; "Hi, I'm Shadow," he said with a smile; "It's nice to meet you."

Rikku turned to Shadow, her dazzling blue eys sparkling. "I'm Rikku." She laughed her adorable laugh, and said, "Wow. You're big."

Shadow laughed a little bit, too; "Yeah, very big for a wolf-dog," he said, crouching down a little so that Rikku could see him eye-to-eye; "So, what's his deal?" he asked, indicating the hare who was still marveling over his tail; "Why is he so interested in my tail?"

Rikku laughed, "I dunno. He's weird." The hare stood up straight, yelling indignatly, "Weird? Watch your tone, young'un!" Rikku rolled her eyes and looked at Shade. "So, shouldnt we get going? Thanatos is going to be expecting us home." Shade nodded, and shepharded Shadow over to the side. She looked at him intently. "Shadow, I..." She took a deep breath, "I think you should stay."

Shadow had to force his eyes from watering again; "Wh...why?" he whimpered; "What would prevent me from going with you?" he asked.
