Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I blushed slightly at Moonstar's affectionate nuzzle, but I laid my head on top of Moonstar's head in response; "Of course I'll go with you," I said warmly.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I wagged my tail.
"You will? Really? That's great!" I barked happily. I turned to Balto. "Thank you so much for taking me in," I said, dipping my head. Balto smiled and dipped his head in response.
"It's no problem. Come back whenever you want," he said. I nodded, smiling, and turned to Shadow, taking a breath.
"Ready?" I asked.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled at Moonstar; "Yeah, I'm ready; how big is your family, anyway?" I asked her, curious to know if her family was larger than mine.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I laughed.
"Well, when I left, it was me, my brother, my mother and father, and four others who aren't blood but they're family all the same," I said, smiling. I was eager to get back. I walked down the plank onto the snow, my paws tingling in excitement. I looked back to Shadow. "It's about a week's walk, though," I said.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled at Moonstar, knowing that she truly cared about me like I was a brother; "Don't worry; I'm built for endurance, especially against the cold," I said confidently.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I grinned.
"Sure, with that tail!" I joked, then began trotting through the snow.
We soon left the boat far behind. We walked through the forest for a whole day. My paws dragged tiredly. I looked up at Shadow.
"How about a rest, eh?" I asked hopefully, my legs already sinking to the ground.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled at Moonstar; I could see that she was very tired; "Sure, lets rest for a bit," I said, lying down in the snow. "I'm not too tired, so let me know if you want a ride or anything," I told her.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I nodded and let my eyes close.
"Wake me up in half 'an hour," I mumbled before I fell asleep, breathing softly.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I sat down next to Moonstar and curled my tail around her to help her stay warm. While I waited, I watched random wildlife scurrying around.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
When I woke, I knew I had slept longer than intended. I frowned at Shadow.
"You didn't wake me," I accused, standing up and stretching my legs. I grinned at Shadow. "Well, I feel a lot better. Let's get goin'," I said, and walked forward.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I blushed slightly; I had been so absorbed with watching our surroundings that I had forgotten Moonstar had only wanted to sleep for half an hour. I trotted alongside Moonstar; "So how big is your family?" I asked her.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I tilted my head.
"Didn't I tell you? Hm, I thought I did... But, well, there's my parents, my brother and me, and four others who aren't blood-related but still family all the same," I said. I sighed. Oh, how I missed my mother's soft muzzle over my fur and my father's comforting embrace. I couldn't wait to get back!

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I laughed when I saw how excited Moonstar was about seeing her family again; "That makes your family twice as big as mine, then," I said with a smile.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I nodded and smiled, wagging my tail.
"Well, in truth, we're a small pack compared to others around our territory; we're one of the smallest! But, size doesn't matter, does it?" I said, and I glanced at Shadow's tail, laughing.
--
We walked for a few more days, until we came upon a tree that looked very familiar to me. I gave it a sniff, and there it was: my father's scent mark. I was home!
"Shadow, we're here! Follow me!" I said happily, leaping up to begin running through the snow.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I nodded and bounded after Moonstar, wondering what her pack would be like.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I bounded through the trees with Shadow on my tail, sniffing every familiar scent that passed me. That's how I didn't notice the scent of another wolf coming near us.
I was suddenly knocked onto my side with a yelp. A weight pressed down on me, and another familiar scent filled my nostrils.
"Back so soon, hon'?" a voice said smootly in my ear with a laugh. I grinned and looked up at the dark gray-furred male with yellow eyes above me.
"Shade!" I barked happily and rebounded his pounce, licking his cheek. Shade was my best male friend in the pack. I suddenly remembered Shadow and stood up, shaking. "Er, Shade, this is my friend, Shadow. Shadow, this is Shade," I said, nodding to each of them. Shade turned to Shadow with a smile.
"Hey, pal, how's it goin'?" he answered, friendly.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled back at Shade, a little nervous about meeting the first member of Moonstar's pack; "Nice to meet you, too," I said, my tail wagging back and forth in the snow.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
Shade's yellow eyes widened when he noticed Shadow's tail.
"Wow, that's a whopper," he laughed. I grinned.
"Shade, I came home because... well, I'm in a bit of trouble. Not enough time to explain. I just gotta see Mom and Dad... and Sunshot," I said. Shade nodded.
"Of course. Follow me," he said, and trotted towards the pack's camp. I motioned to Shadow with my head to follow, and I followed Shade.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I blushed a little bit at Shade's comment about my tail as I trotted behind Moonstar; one thing that came into my mind, which I had neglected to mention to Moonstar beforehand, was that I would be a little embarrassed if the other pack members greeted me dog-style, even thought there was no doubt that they would.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
As we followed Shade, I noticed that Shadow was a little quiet. I slowed down so I trotted next to him.
"What's up? You're a bit quiet. Are you worried about my family? Don't worry, they're not mean." I smiled encouragingly.

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled with a bit of a blush; "Nah, just a little embarrassed, just like you were with my family," I said calmly.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I laughed.
"Oh, I see. Don't worry, they'll love you," I replied, smiling. Shade stopped in front of us.
"We're here," he said, walking forward again. I took a deep breath.
"Well, here goes," I said to Shadow, and stepped though the two bushes: the entrance to our camp.
I was greeted with the overwhelming scent of family: shared blood, feelings, thoughts. I noticed Snowdrop, Shade's mate, a beatiful grayish-white female with crystal-blue eyes lying outside their den.
"Snowdrop!" I barked. She looked up, her eyes shining.
"Moonstar!" she yelped. Suddenly four pups tumbled out from behind her, running towards me.
"Moonstar!" they said in unison, and knocked me over, furiously licking my face and grunting. I laughed.
"Wow, you guys have gotten so big! You could practically hunt now!" The pups barked from my praise, then noticed Shadow standing behind me.
"Who's that?" they asked, truly curious.
"My friend, Shadow. Shadow, these are Shade's and Snowdrop's pups. I forgot to tell you about them. They were only little scraps when I left." The pups barked at him.
"Hello!"

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
I smiled at the pups, which were almost Moonstar's size; "Hi there," I said happily, wagging my tail through the snow. I hoped that none of the pack members would end up sniffing me... back there, like the dogs in town always tried to do; I knew at least one would do it as a greeting, though.
Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
(OOC: XD We could not have them sniff butts, if you prefer. Moon and Shadow never did, so we don't have to here. )
The pups spotted Shadow's enormous tail and immediately went into pounce-mode. I noticed this and hopped in front of them.
"I know: the tail is tempting, but don't attack it unless Shadow gives you permission. Ya hear?" The pups nodded. Snowdrop trotted up, chuckling.
"You would make a lovely mother, Moon," she said. I curled my lip in disgust.
"No, thanks. I couldn't stand it... Where's Mom and Dad?"
"Here, dear." I almost shivered at my mother's cooing voice. I turned around and saw the beautiful enitrely-black German shepherd in front of me: my mother.
"Mom," I sighed, and ran up to her, burying my face in her fluffy neck fur, breathing in her comforting scent. She chuckled softly and licked the top of my head, which made me feel like a pup again. I stepped away and smiled at her. "I'm so glad you're back, my moon and star," she said, then looked at Shadow. "Who's this?"
"My friend, Shadow. He and his family saved my life." My mother's eyes widened at my words, but she smiled at Shadow.
"Hello, Shadow, I'm Shana, Moonstar's mother."

Re: The Quest of Self-Discovery - Moonstar/tatsu-okami
(OOC: Nah, I think it's funny when stuff like that happens at Shadow's expense; if he hopes something embarrassing doesn't happen, that's my way of saying "Make it happen." X3 He actually has another flavor down there, although no-one knows about it XDD There's another funny idea I just had for someone to do to Shadow; it'd make a great drawing, too )
I laughed at the pups' enthusiasm; "Don't worry guys, you can play with it all you want," I said kindly. I looked kindly at Moonstar's mother; "Heh, nice to meet you, ma'am," I said with a warm smile.
