Shadow slightly heard what Makita had said about him; he felt very glad hearing that. He hoped that Makita would also be able to stay in Nome with him and Cinder.

Cinder asked Makita "Would you like to stay with us?"
"Well, I don't know." Makita replied "I kinda feel out of place in a town, and I know that there are narrow-minded dogs there just ready to tear me up."

Shadow was not fully asleep, and heard the conversation; "Don't worry; that used to be the case, but the dogs in my hometown are more accepting of wolves now. There are still a couple that are narrow-minded, but they aren't any trouble to deal with; they're a bunch of weaklings," he mumbled.

"Alright, then." Makita said, hesitating. Then laying down again, her paws laid on her head, her eyes distant.

Shadow looked over at Cinder and Makita; "Why so far off? Why don't we sleep together to keep warmer?" he suggested.

Cinder quickly took the offer and laid next to Shadow. "Makita? Are you alright? Come join us!"
"I guess..." She said after a few moments and laid on Shadow's other side.

After what seemes like a while, Makita heard the train stop to a loud creeeeeak. Quickly she jumped up and woke up the others "Hey guys, I think we're in Nome..."

Shadow's ears twitched as he yawned and stood up; "Yep, we're right outside of town," he said with relief.

Cinder got up and hopped out of he train car, Makita followed. "Ok," Makita siad, "Where do yuo guys live?"

Shadow hopped out of the train car as well; "We live on this old, run-down boat just outside of town," he said.

Cinder pointed with her muzzle where it was. "Oh, what a lovely place! Better that the ground, I guess." Makita said, never having any comfortable places in here life.

Shadow raised his shoulders in a shrug; "Yeah, better than the ground, I guess; it's still cold because half of the windows in the cabin are blown out, but at least it's not as wet as the snow, except for what blows in," he said.

Makita smiled "It's ok. I've been in wosrt." And the girls both laid down after a long day. "Let's sleep. It's really late!" Cinder yawned

Shadow nodded, laying up against a wall and stretching himself out in case Cinder or Makita wanted to join him.

Cinder walked over to Shadow and curled up next to him. "Makita, come join us!"
"Ok!" Makita happily troted over to the couple and layed down next to them.

Cinder was so tired she feel asleep right away. Makita though still had her eyes wide open and restless.

Shadow looked over at Makita, noticing that she wasn't falling asleep; "Hey, what's up?" he asked her, playfully brushing her muzzle with the tip of his tail.

Shadow watched Makita as she got up and walked around the cabin, then shrugged and laid his head down and closed his eyes, although he made sure to stay awake and make sure that Makita didn't wander off.

Makita wasn't feeling really well. Emotionally. Perhaps guilt and regrets from using the couple as a shield for protection from the forest creatures and hunters. Although she did feel very comfortable and caring for them, but she thought even that wasn't enough. She got too scared, so she high-tailed and ran off. To many things and past experiences were swirling around in her head she didn't even know that she was on a forzen lake with very thin ice.

Shadow's ears perked up as he heard the cabin door creaking when Makita left. He looked outside, then nudged Cinder with his nose; "Cinder, wake up; Makita's gone!" he said urgently.

Cinder groaned and stretched "What, Makita's gone? Where'd she go?"

Shadow got up and began sniffing around; "I dunno, she just got up and walked off and hasn't come back!" he said, the worry prominent in his voice.
