Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow had been sitting on the outskirts of Nome, his hometown, somewhat entranced by the lights coming from the many buildings in town. He was sitting on a wooden box about six feet off of the ground, his tail dangling down off the edge of the box.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely waddled along. Certainly, this was like home, but there was something different about this place. He'd come up so far from home in order to have some time to himself, time to think, away from the busy world of Emperorland. Waddling along, he pined a little for some of the things he had at home, especially the female in his life. But he needed a break from all those others, those who were not too kindly to him. Caught up in thought, he hardly noticed the canine as he walked nearby.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow perked his ears up at the sound of crunching snow; he was still very absorbed with the lights coming from the city, but his tail began to swish back and forth in response to the noise.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely finally walked past where the canine was, still consumed in thought. But, the site of motion made him freeze.
What was that?
A little nervous, he turned and looked at the source of movement, unsure of whether it was friendly or not.

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow was still too absorbed in his own thoughts to notice anything near him; his tail was still swishing like a pendulum, occasionally thumping against the side of the box. He did not notice someone was approaching it.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely looked up at the creature before him. He was unsure of whether it looked friendly or not, so against all his will, he spoke up.
"Uh, h-... hi?"
"Uh, h-... hi?"
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow looked behind him once he was addressed; "Oh, hey there," he responded, "I've never seen you around before."
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely relaxed a little. He seemed to be friendly.
"Yeah... I'm taking a break from home, down south."
He recognized this creature, it was canine of some sort. He'd seen similar creatures in the company of those strange creatures known only as "Aliens" where he'd come from.
(OOC: FYI, Aliens = Humans. Happy Feet reference. And that was the film that made me choose Emperor Penguin as my fursona, so yeah. )

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow had seen birds like this one before, but he had never talked to them; he would just watch them from a distance. "Well, would you like to come up here and talk a bit?" he asked the bird, not knowing that it was unable to jump the five or six feet up.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely chuckled, relaxing a little more now that it seemed that the canine would do him no harm. Still, he was suspicious, but that was just built-in survival instinct.
"I'd love to, but I'm afraid us penguins can't fly."

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
"Oh, I see," said Shadow with an embarrassed smile; he twitched his tail in thought, and noticed the penguin watching its motion, which gave him an idea. He swished his tail towards the penguin in an inviting manner; "Here, grab a hold of my tail, and I'll pull you up!" he said with a chuckle.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely took hold of the interestingly scented tail with his flippers, and climbed up short way to ensure he was firmly on. He hoped he wasn't too heavy.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
The penguin was a little heavy, but not too much; Shadow lifted his tail up to the top of the box and set the penguin down next to him, then let his tail dangle over the edge of the box again.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely could finally see the canine's face, and still thought he looked quite friendly. He smiled and said "thanks" before looking out at the view from up in the box.
"Wow, nice view you have up here."
"Wow, nice view you have up here."
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
"Yeah, it sure is; sometimes I just stay up here and stare into town for hours," said Shadow, shifting his tail so that it absentmindedly was lying in front of the penguin.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely once again picked up on the scent of the tail. Curiously, he tilted his head, and lowered it, staring at the tail, much as a magpie or crow would stare at a shiny object. He pecked at it lightly, unsure of what to make of that scent, and making sure that he didn't hurt Shadow. It was an unusual smell to him, considering his main food was fish, so he was a little undecided on whether he liked it or not.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow looked over to see Ely pecking at his tail, and a small smile came over his face, he didn't want to interrupt him if he liked the taste of the tail.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely spoke up.
"Uh, don't take this the wrong way, but... your tail has an interesting taste."
He giggled. That just sounded silly.

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
"Yeah, it certainly does," said Shadow with a chuckle; "You're one of ten or so that like to chew on it; oddly enough, others say my ears are tasty, too," he said with a second laugh.
(ooc: It'd be funny if Ely tries to swallow the tail like a fish XDD And Shadow's ears taste like brownies, apparently )

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
(OOC: XD Yeah, OK, I'll gear us towards that )
Ely was still hypnotized a little by the scent of the tail. He eventually couldn't hold back on his curiosity for the taste, and took the tip into his beak and lifted it up, forgetting that it was attached Shadow.

Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Shadow wasn't sure what Ely was planning to do with his tail, so he simply watched with a somewhat dumbfounded expression.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely then proceeded to attempt to swallow the tail as if it were a fish. However, he choked on the hairiness of the tail, and spat it out. He suddenly realized what he'd done, and blushing deeply and looking down at his feet, he muttered an embarrassed apology.
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Ely was still embarrassed though. So, to move a little off the chat, he asked:
"What is that taste, and why does your tail taste like that?"
"What is that taste, and why does your tail taste like that?"
Re: Shadow meets Elysium
Laughing a bit, Shadow explained; "That taste is from cookies, a sweet food that humans eat. I don't know why my tail tastes like them, but I wouldn't have it any other way!" he said with another laugh.
