"Oh yeah, I've got quite a few brothers and sisters; only one stayed in the same town as I did though," said Shadow; he stopped moving his tail underwater, except to occasionally twitch the tip of it as a lure.

Cami was pleased that he was happy. "That is cool. I have one sister and one brother. They both live in our hometow, but i couldn't saty there. I felt as if there was nothing there, so i moved here. I have lived here for only three months, and i am glad that i stayed longer because i was thinking of moving again, but i am glad that i waited. Now there is no way that I could move away from here." She told him something that she had never told any of her friends. She had been a stray for a long time. Her family thought that she just was stolen, but she had just ran away. Cami explained the whole story to Shadow, and trusted him. Cami then had saddness come over her. She had never said anyhting about her family ever. to anyone. "Now ask ne some questions. I have asked almost all of them so far." She needed to get her mind off of the subject of her family.

Shadow laid his head on top of Cami's head, thinking of a question to ask her; "Well, I was wondering what you were doing on the beach before we met," he said curiously. He thought he felt a slight tug on his tail, but it was just stuck in some seaweed.

Cami wasn't sure that she wanted to respond to that, so she hesitated, but then began to answer, "Well, my friends and I got into a mini fight, and I like to come to the beach to relax. I like wathcing the other dogs make fools of themselves, and it is also a great place to relax. And then I saw you..." She trailed off. Cami took another deep breath and continued, "And i saw you, and there was something about you that i sensed, and i am glad that i was brave enough to go and talk to you." She smiled at him, and then she sensed a fish, but it was nothing. "I know that you like to sun yourself on the beach, but was there a special reason why you were there yeaterday?"

Shadow smiled back at Cami; "Not really, I spend most of my time there during the day," he said; "I'm still a bit of a loner, so I'd go wherever it was peaceful; that just happens to always be at the beach for me," he said, rubbing his head against Cami's head.

Cami was still very happy. "Cool. The beach has always been a happy place for me." As she finished her sentence, she saw a fish slowly come into view. " She nudged Shadow, and whispered, "Hey, look there is a fish, and i don't know how to catch it, will you show me, or catch it for me." She looked at him, but hoped that he didn't think that she was lazy because she had asked him to catch her food.

Shadow looked over his shoulder, and saw a fish that was about a foot long swimming near the ledge where he and Cami sat; "Watch this," he said quietly. He twitched the end of his tail under the water, luring the fish over to it; it circled his tail for a moment, eying it curiously. After about ten seconds, there was a large splash, and Shadow felt the fish bite his tail and start tugging frantically on it. He lifted his tail out of the water and over the ground in front of Cami; the fish was shaking in the air, his tail stuck in it's jaws. "There you go," he said, holding his waterlogged tail in front of Cami's face; "What do you think?" he asked with a giggle.

Cami was definetly impressed. She giggled too, and then said, "Thanks. that is really big, you should have it for yourself, or we can share it because i know that i woun't be able to eat the whole thing!!" She looked at the fish again. "Do you want me to try to catch one?"

As Shadow smiled at Cami, he felt himself starting to blush again; "We can share it," he said; "And of course you can try! We'd need to find a nes spot to fish, though, since your tail isn't long enough to reach the water from this high," he said with another laugh.

Cami was happy that they could share the fish. "Great! And were you saying that my tail is too short?!" She joked with him. She said it while she was laughing to let him know that she didn't mean it in a mean way. After they finished eating, they got up and streched. "Where do you think is the best spot?"

"Err, your tail isn't too short," Shadow said in embarrassment; "Are you able to uncurl your tail,though?" he asked. "I don't know of a way that you could fish if your tail can't uncurl; I'm not sure if it would be able to go under water if it's curled up," he said. They found a spot right next to some moderately shallow water; "Any idea what we can do?" Shadow asked her.

Cami laughed, "I wasn't mad, i was just joking around with you. Sorry. I have never really tried to uncurl her tail." but she was unsuccessful. She sighed. "I guess that i can't. What should i do?" She lloked at him with hope in her eyes.

"Hmm, I'm not sure..." said Shadow; "Maybe if we get into deeper water, the fish may bit if you're able to submerge your tail underwater... Want to try it?" he asked.

Cami shuddered at the thought of going into deep water. After getting a puzzled look from Shadow, she began to explain, "When i was a pup, my family and I's owner had something that they call a pool, and one of the little girls threw me into their pool, and i nearly drown. Luckily, as you can see, i survived, but I still don't like going into deep water." She toook a deep breath, "I have never told that to anyone else that i have ever met other than family." She was glad that she was able to tell him one of her secrets. "So if you really really want to go out there, I would be fine because I know that you will comfort me, and help. It is totally up to you now." She wanted to go out in one way, but was too scared to just walk into the deeper waters. As she waited for a respones, she began to think more and more about something, but even she didn't know what.

"Aww, I'm really sorry to hear that," said Shadow; he walked over and licked her cheek soothingly. "Well, we don't have to go into really deep water; you could just sit in the shallower water, I suppose, and the fish may still bite there. Want to try that?" he asked, smiling at her.

Cami then sat up again, "Thanks, I am glad that you understand. I am up for anything. I don't have anywhere to go, do you?!" She was really happy he understood.

"I have all the time in the world," Shadow said dreamily; "We can do whatever you want," he continued, his tail wagging slowly through the grass.

Cami looked at him as he gazed at her, and replied, "That would be great, while we fish, I will try to think of something for us to do after because you chose this activity!" She continued to gaze into his eyes as they walked, but she wasn't familiar with the surrounding land, and she tripped over a fallen tree, and began to laugh.

"Are you okay?" asked Shadow; even though Cami was laughing, he was still a little nervous about her falling. When she confirmed that she was fine, he smiled, then playfully slinked under her and picked her up so that she was laying across his back before walking down to a spot where they could wade in the lake.

Cami nodded even though she knew that he knew that she was ok. "Hey! What are you doing?!" She playfully shouted. She started laughing even harder. When he set her down, she pushed him, and he fell into the water, but only on purpose. Cami knew that he wasn't hurt.

Shadow laughed playfully when he broke the water's surface; "Come on in, the water feels great!" he said joyfully; he didn't realize that he was about to be glomped...

She ran into the water, but halfway into the water and to Shadow, she suddenly came to a halt. She had forgotten her fear of deep water until she realized that it was covering half of her legs. "Ok I can so this." She kept mumbling under her breath so Shadow couldn't hear her fear. She knew that he knew about it. He looked back and then it dawned on him about her fear, and as she was slowly wading into the water, he made his way back to her.

"Cami, are you okay?" Shadow asked, rubbing his nose against her's affectionately; "We can stay in the shallow water if you want," he said, wanting her to be comfortable in the water with him.

She calmed down a bit. Cami was begining to think that Shadow's voice helped her through anything. She lost almost all fear, but was still nervous. " It is ok, I think that we can go a little bit deeper. Thanks for caring!" She felt loved, and loving at the moment.

"Okay, if you really want to," said Shadow, nosing her again; "Maybe we shouldn't go any deeper than chest high or so for you; does that sound good?" he asked encouragingly.
